Background: As a child growing up in western Nebraska, John spent hours on end building and racing go-karts. His interests later expanded to constructing and building hot rods, dragsters and stock cars, and he even delved into building and racing V8-powered race boats in the late 1970s. His experience also includes working in service and parts for auto dealerships, in addition to constructing and racing stock cars since the early 1980s. He managed Team RE/MAX Racing through the 1990s.
